Η αγωνιστική δράση του Baja Greece 2026 ξεκίνησε σήμερα με μία ημέρα γεμάτη ένταση και δυνατές συγκινήσεις, σηματοδοτώντας την επίσημη έναρξη του σημαντικότερου αθλητικού γεγονότος της Δυτικής Μακεδονίας.
Το πρωί, οι αγωνιζόμενοι είχαν την ευκαιρία να δοκιμάσουν τα οχήματά τους στις επίσημες δοκιμές (Shakedown) που πραγματοποιήθηκαν στην περιοχή του Βοτανίου. Σε πραγματικές αγωνιστικές συνθήκες, πληρώματα και ομάδες προχώρησαν στις τελευταίες ρυθμίσεις και ελέγχους, εξασφαλίζοντας ότι όλα ήταν έτοιμα ενόψει της πρώτης αγωνιστικής δοκιμασίας.
Το ενδιαφέρον μεταφέρθηκε το απόγευμα στην ειδική διαδρομή που διεξήχθη στην περιοχή του Αεροδρομίου Καστοριάς «Αριστοτέλης». Η ιδιαίτερα απαιτητική διαδρομή μήκους περίπου 6 χιλιομέτρων πρόσφερε πλούσιο θέαμα στους θεατές και αποτέλεσε το πρώτο ουσιαστικό αγωνιστικό δείγμα της φετινής διοργάνωσης, καθορίζοντας παράλληλα τη σειρά επιλογής εκκίνησης για την αυριανή ημέρα.
Ταχύτερο πλήρωμα στην ειδική αναδείχθηκαν οι Lionel και Lucie Baud με MINI JCW Rally, σημειώνοντας τον καλύτερο χρόνο στην ειδική διαδρομή του Αεροδρομίου Καστοριάς «Αριστοτέλης». Την πρώτη τριάδα συμπλήρωσαν οι Hamed Al Wahaibi – Maciej Giemza και οι Benediktas Vanagas – Aisvydas Paliukenas, προμηνύοντας έντονο ανταγωνισμό για τη συνέχεια του αγώνα.
Στον Εθνικό Αγώνα, ταχύτερο πλήρωμα αναδείχθηκαν οι Vladislav Velkov και Nikolai Rumenov με CanAm Maverick R, οι οποίοι επικράτησαν στην ειδική διαδρομή του αεροδρομίου. Στη δεύτερη θέση ολοκλήρωσαν οι Ταξιάρχης Αδαμόπουλος και Θόδωρος Αργυρόπουλος, ενώ την πρώτη τριάδα συμπλήρωσαν οι Γιάννης Άκρατος και Μάριος Τσαούσογλου.

Μετά την ολοκλήρωση της ειδικής διαδρομής, οι κορυφαίοι αγωνιζόμενοι επέλεξαν τις θέσεις εκκίνησής τους για το αυριανό σκέλος του αγώνα, διαμορφώνοντας τη στρατηγική τους για τις απαιτητικές διαδρομές που ακολουθούν στα βουνά της Δυτικής Μακεδονίας.
Η ημέρα ολοκληρώθηκε με την πανηγυρική εκκίνηση στο Πάρκο Εθνικής Αντίστασης στο Άργος Ορεστικό, όπου πλήθος κόσμου υποδέχθηκε θερμά τα πληρώματα από όλο τον κόσμο. Οι αγωνιζόμενοι ανέβηκαν στη ράμπα εκκίνησης μέσα σε εορταστική ατμόσφαιρα, με κατοίκους και επισκέπτες να έχουν την ευκαιρία να γνωρίσουν από κοντά τους πρωταγωνιστές του αγώνα και να θαυμάσουν τα εντυπωσιακά αγωνιστικά οχήματα.
Το Baja Greece 2026 συνεχίζεται αύριο με το κυρίως αγωνιστικό σκέλος της διοργάνωσης, και την Ειδική Διαδρομή «ΒΙΤΣΙ», συνολικού μήκους 164 χιλιομέτρων. Η εκκίνηση θα δοθεί κοντά στον οικισμό Λεύκη στις 08:50, με τα πληρώματα να κινούνται σε μία από τις πλέον αναγνωρισμένες και απαιτητικές διαδρομές του θεσμού. Η ίδια ειδική θα επαναληφθεί το απόγευμα, με το πρώτο αγωνιστικό όχημα να εκκινεί στις 15:10.
Η διαδρομή του Βιτσίου θεωρείται μία από τις κορυφαίες στον χώρο των Cross Country Rally, συνδυάζοντας τεχνικά τμήματα με γρήγορους αγροτικούς και δασικούς δρόμους που δοκιμάζουν τόσο τις δυνατότητες των οχημάτων όσο και την αντοχή των πληρωμάτων. Ανάμεσα στα σημεία αναφοράς της βρίσκονται το εμβληματικό χωριό Κρανιώνας και το Χιονοδρομικό Κέντρο Πισοδερίου, ενώ τα αγωνιστικά οχήματα θα φτάσουν σε υψόμετρο που αγγίζει τα 1.900 μέτρα, προσφέροντας εντυπωσιακές εικόνες και μοναδικές αγωνιστικές προκλήσεις.

Dust, action and strong performances mark
the Start of BAJA GREECE 2026
The competitive action of Baja Greece 2026 officially began today with a day full of excitement and intense moments, marking the start of the largest sporting event in Western Macedonia.
In the morning, competitors had the opportunity to test their vehicles during the official Shakedown session held in the Vatani area. Under real rally conditions, crews and teams completed their final adjustments and checks, ensuring everything was ready for the first competitive challenge of the event.
Attention then shifted in the afternoon to the Special Stage held near Kastoria Airport “Aristotelis”. The demanding stage, approximately 6 kilometres in length, provided spectacular action for spectators and offered the first true competitive benchmark of this year’s event, while also determining the starting order selection for the following day.
The fastest crew in the stage was Lionel and Lucie Baud aboard the MINI JCW Rally, setting the best time on the Kastoria Airport Special Stage. Hamed Al Wahaibi – Maciej Giemza and Benediktas Vanagas – Aisvydas Paliukenas completed the top three, setting the stage for an exciting battle throughout the remainder of the rally.
In the Greece National Baja Cup, Vladislav Velkov and Nikolai Rumenov in a CanAm Maverick R claimed the fastest time of the stage. Taxiarchis Adamopoulos – Theodoros Argyropoulos finished second, while Ioannis Akratos – Marios Tsaousoglou rounded out the top three.

Following the completion of the stage, the leading competitors selected their starting positions for tomorrow’s leg of the rally, shaping their strategy for the demanding mountain stages ahead.
The day concluded with the Ceremonial Start at the National Resistance Park in Argos Orestiko, where a large crowd warmly welcomed crews from around the world. Competitors crossed the starting podium in a festive atmosphere, giving residents and visitors the opportunity to meet the stars of the rally and admire the impressive race vehicles up close.
Baja Greece 2026 continues tomorrow with the main competitive section of the event and the “VITSI” Special Stage, covering a total distance of 164 kilometres. The first vehicle will start near the village of Lefki at 08:50, taking competitors through one of the most renowned and demanding stages of the championship. The stage will be repeated in the afternoon, with the first vehicle scheduled to start at 15:10.
The Vitsi stage is considered one of the highlights of Cross Country Rally competition, combining technical sections with fast gravel and forest roads that challenge both the performance of the vehicles and the endurance of the crews. Among its landmark locations are the iconic village of Kranionas and the Pisoderi Ski Centre, while competitors will reach elevations of up to 1,900 metres, offering spectacular scenery and unique sporting challenges.
